Assassin’s Creed Origins
When the series started to feel like more of the same thing over and over, it was clear that Assassin’s Creed Origins would have to do something special to get longtime fans to play these games again. They came up with an answer by taking ideas from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s open world to make a great game with lots of content everywhere.
Many people think that Origins and Odyssey are too long and have taken away from what made the Assassin’s Creed games great. But even though this game has a lot of problems, players still love learning about the background of the series and how the Assassins came to be. It helps that the open world does a great job of letting players experience a shortened version of Egypt that is full of many famous landmarks and monuments.
Far Cry 2
Even though the new Far Cry games are pretty good. Many players think that the magic of Far Cry 2 will never be recreated in this series. The game tried to be as realistic as possible by making players open a real map to figure out where they are in the world while also trying to fight malaria.
Far Cry 2 put a lot of focus on immersion, even though it sometimes gives in to the power dream of being a one-man army that can take out a lot of people without much trouble. It’s too bad that this game is hard to play now. Because it’s different from most other games and could be a breath of fresh air for Ubisoft’s copy-and-paste mindse. Which has been a problem for the series ever since.
Many people think that The Phantom Pain is one of the best open-world games ever made. The game is full of huge biomes and unique settings that will keep players busy for hours on end while they play some of the best stealth games ever made.
It’s too bad that Kojima never got to make this game the way he really wanted t. Because his relationship with Konami went bad before the game got the ending it earned. Exploring the Angola-Zaire Border region and finishing the many missions there is still a lot of fun. Players can use the many tools they have to kill enemies in the most creative ways they can think of.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey
Ancestors was a game that showed a lot of potential before it came out. It was made by a team led by a Ubisoft veteran. And the game’s setting in prehistoric Africa was also very appealing. The game has its fair share of fans, but it just didn’t make a big splash. Most reviewers who looked at Geometry Dash Subzero before it was forgotten called it “average.”
It’s too bad, because Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey has some great idea. That set it apart from the other open-world games players are used to. The repetitive gameplay is more than made up for by the fun of watching the hominid clan change with each death as they find new ways to stay alive and become a species.
Lego Marvel’s Avengers
People often overlook the Lego games, which is a shame because they have a lot of heart. As the quality of these games went up, they moved into the open-world genre, which they did very well.
Many people think that Marvel’s Avengers is one of the best games they’ve made. Players can move around in a lot of different places, like New York City, Asgard, and South Africa. Players can do side missions and find secrets while also moving the main story along.
Sniper Elite 3
Sniper Elite 3 isn’t exactly an open-world game, but it does like to drop players in the middle of huge playground level. And give them complete freedom to kill their target in any way they want. It sort of fits the description. And the fact that it takes place in different parts of Africa is a huge plus.
There’s always something rewarding about making the perfect shot. And seeing an enemy’s guts get torn apart over and over again by a well-placed bullet. The game’s shooting controls are unmatched. And it’s easy to see why so many people think this is the best game in the series.
